Dhamma Mahavana ('great forest of Dhamma'), the California Vipassana Center, is on 109 forested acres in the Sierra Nevada foothills near North Fork. Its first course was held in 1991, and its schedule includes courses of up to 45 days.
Apply online through the centre's page on dhamma.org (in Nepal, start from np.dhamma.org). New students must first complete a 10-day course, and there is no charge.
