Dhamma Birāṭa ('Colossal Dhamma'), the Purwanchal (eastern) Vipassana Centre, is named after nearby Biratnagar and lies among paddy fields about 1.5 km south-west of the Mahendra and Koshi highway junction near Itahari. The nearest airport is Biratnagar (20 km) and the nearest railhead is Jogbani on the Indian border (30 km).
Apply online through the centre's page on dhamma.org (in Nepal, start from np.dhamma.org). New students must first complete a 10-day course, and there is no charge.
