About
Vipassana Nepal (विपश्यना नेपाल) is an independent guide to Vipassana meditation. It is made in Nepal, the country where the Buddha was born, for anyone anywhere who wants to understand the practice, choose a tradition and find a course.
It brings together what is usually scattered: plain explanations of the teaching, the different ways it is taught, the lives of the teachers who kept it going, and a directory of centres country by country, starting with Nepal and India.
We are not a meditation organisation, and we are not affiliated with any tradition, centre or teacher listed here, including dhamma.org. We do not run courses or take bookings. Every centre page links to the centre’s own website, which is where you apply and where the current rules and dates are.
These pages describe the practice; they do not replace a teacher. Each tradition asks newcomers to learn on a supervised course, and several ask that their method is not taught from books or recordings. We respect that: the guides explain what happens and why, and point you to where it is taught.
There are no accounts and no forms. The meditation timer keeps its settings in your own browser. To see which pages are useful, the site uses Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymous usage (pages visited, clicks and scrolling) and masks text you type; see Microsoft’s privacy statement.
