The Bhavana Society is a Theravada forest monastery and retreat centre on more than 50 wooded acres in West Virginia, co-founded in 1982 by Ven. Henepola Gunaratana, author of Mindfulness in Plain English. Monks and lay residents train there, and meditation retreats are offered free of charge.
