Nilambe is a lay-run meditation centre in the tea country near Kandy, reached by bus to Office Junction, 17 km from Kandy on the Delthota road, then a walk uphill. It was started by a Kandy meditation group in the late 1970s and became known internationally under Godwin Samararatne. It runs guided insight-meditation retreats, and the centre has no electricity.
