Na Uyana is an ancient forest monastery site in rural Kurunegala district, revived as the largest meditation monastery of the Sri Kalyani Yogasrama Samstha. It covers more than 5,000 acres and teaches the Pa-Auk method of samatha and vipassana. Lay men practise at Na Uyana and lay women at the affiliated Dhammika Ashramaya nunnery; foreign meditators apply online.
Get the monastery's approval before you travel: read its rules for foreign meditators and apply on its form. Stays of over a month need its sponsorship letter for a Myanmar meditation visa.
