The highest Vipassana centre in Nepal, at about 2,850 m in a meadow near Lukla in the Everest (Sagarmatha) region, roughly 20 minutes' walk from Tenzing-Hillary Airport. It can accommodate about 50 people and holds ten-day courses through the year; the centre advises bringing warm clothes, and access from Kathmandu is usually by a 30-minute flight to Lukla.
Apply online through the centre's page on dhamma.org (in Nepal, start from np.dhamma.org). New students must first complete a 10-day course, and there is no charge.
